{"id":423,"date":"2009-05-15T15:16:50","date_gmt":"2009-05-15T21:16:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/japanton.com\/?p=423"},"modified":"2009-05-15T15:16:50","modified_gmt":"2009-05-15T21:16:50","slug":"weapons-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/japanton.com\/?p=423","title":{"rendered":"Weapons Month"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It has been quite some time since I actively went over weapons so I am g0ing to give you an overview of what I will be doing.<\/p>\n<p>The weapons that I will focus on are hanbo (3 ft staff) and tanto (knife).\u00a0 The reason, because I feel like it and I think they are good weapons with which to start.\u00a0 The hanbo is a weapons which can be used in may different ways and can be found in some variation very easily.\u00a0 Though I said it&#8217;s 3 feet long, the techniques can be used without much need for adaptation over a great variety of staff lengths.\u00a0 The tanto is a weapon which is very common, especially in Edmonton.<\/p>\n<p>So what can you do to practice at home?\u00a0 Do san shin with a hanbo and tanto.\u00a0 With the tanto first in your rear hand then in your lead hand.\u00a0 With the hanbo, trying to use as many methods of gripping the staff as possible.\u00a0 We have trained a long time to get the mechanics of the movements correct, now it&#8217;s time to add some flow.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t go fast to start but eliminate the breaks in your movements.\u00a0 Your strikes should flow.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t leave the strikes sitting out there afterwards either, treat your training as if you are facing an actual opponent whom you are trying to beat.<\/p>\n<p>Sorry for the lack of posts, I am trying to get used to a new job and the resultant hours.\u00a0 I will try to post more regularly once again.<\/p>\n<p>Your life is on the line, train well.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It has been quite some time since I actively went over weapons so I am g0ing to give you an overview of what I will be doing.
